According to The Information, Apple is spending millions of dollars developing its own AI.
Although Apple’s head of artificial intelligence, John Giannandrea, is skeptical about AI chatbots, he still created a team four years ago that is working on conversational AI. Earlier, Mark Gurman reported the same thing – he claimed that some developers had already gained access to the Ajax chat bot, which the company calls Apple GPT internally.
The Foundational Models team, which is working on the new AI, includes only 16 people. Apple spends millions studying its language models.
The previous edition said that Cupertino is also working on significant improvements to Siri, which will debut in iOS 18.
