Microsoft presented new Surface Laptop Studio 2 and Surface Laptop Go 3 laptops at an event this Thursday (21st). Designed with a focus on portability and high performance, the duo offers compact structure and modern Intel processors.

The most powerful of the set is the Surface Laptop Studio 2, a laptop worth US$ 2,000 (about R$ 9,800 in direct conversion) equipped with a 13th-generation Intel Core i7 processor combined with Nvidia RTX 4050 or RTX graphics 4060.

The laptop features Intel NPUs (neural processing cores) to speed up tasks with AIthey are the first Windows laptops with such components.

Microsoft offers the Surface Laptop Studio 2 in versions with up to 64GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. According to the company, this is the “most powerful Surface it’s ever produced” and promises twice the performance of its predecessor.

On the outside of the Surface Laptop Studio 2, there are two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, and a microSD card reader. The new touchpad is more customizable and responsive.

New Surface Laptop Go 3

Focused on portability, Surface Laptop Go 3 strikes a better balance between compact body and performance. It promises up to 15 hours of battery life and a starting price of US$799 (about R$3,900).

Built around a 12.4-inch display, the Surface Laptop Go 3 is similar to its predecessor but has internal revisions. It has a 12th generation Intel Core i5 processor, which is 88% faster, according to the company, and up to 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

On the outside, there is still a 3:2 aspect ratio display with PixelSense technology. Connectivity is assured with USB-A, USB-C ports, a headphone jack, and a dedicated Surface Connect port.

Other versions

Microsoft also introduced new features for the corporate market: Surface Go 4 hybrid tablet and Surface Hub 3 smart board. The set focuses on the work environment and productivity software.

AI in Windows

At the same event, Microsoft formalized Windows Copilot, the company’s suite of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools integrated into the company’s operating system. With the assistant, the company will assist the user with various common tasks on the computer, such as web searches, text-typing suggestions, and creating music playlists.

The artificial intelligence platform will be natively integrated into Windows 11, just like Cortana. But in addition to helping with text, the assistant also has a variety of other capabilities that are useful in the context of various native Windows programs such as Paint, Bing, Teams, and Photos.
