The ranking of the largest catering companies in Europe, Europe’s Top 99 Foodservice Players 2022, presented at the 24th European Foodservice Summit in Zurich, includes four Russian chains: Vkusno – dot (29th place), Dodo Pizza ( 34th place), Shokoladnitsa (85th place) and the Novikov Group (87th place).
The Russian representative office of Foodservice, the leading international publication on eating away from home, which regularly analyzes trends in the restaurant market, Foodservice Russia, reports that “Tasty – period” has become “the most successful newcomer in the classification”. There is hardly any need for comments here.
But three other participants from Russia were also present in the previous qualifications. The Novikov Group in 2022 was in 71st place, and at the end of 2022, it was in 87th place. This line was previously occupied by “Chocolate Girl”, which rose two notches.
The biggest jump, from 39th to 34th place, was made by Fyodor Ovchinnikov’s Dodo Pizza chain. Its founder separately noted on his Telegram channel that “just 12 years ago, Dodo Pizza was a small pizzeria in Syktyvkar” (as opposed to the “newcomer” in the classification).
The businessman also showed the qualification in question. From the document it appears that McDonald’s tops the list of leaders in the European food away from home market, as it has done for many consecutive years, with a turnover of 31.5 billion euros.
Also in the top ten are Sodexo, Yum! Brands (KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell brands), Burger King, Compass Group (British brands Eurest, Scolarest, Medirest), Elior (French brands L’Alsacienne, Elior, Arpège, Serunión), Domino’s Pizza, WSH (again British Baxter Storey, Caterlink, Benugo), Mitchells & Butlers (again in English, but now Harvester, Vintage Inns, Toby Carvery, Sizzling Pubs, Alex) and Starbucks.
The main core of leaders has remained unchanged since 2021, but two companies, the English WSH and Mitchells & Butlers, have supplanted Groupe Bertrand (French Burger King) and AmRest (Polish KFC, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, etc.) of the last year. the ten best.
The accumulated sales of the top 10 companies in the ranking in 2022 amounted to 77.8 billion euros (19% more than in 2021). And the total turnover of Europe’s 99 largest restaurant operators in 2022 increased by €136.5 billion (up 28% compared to 2021).
