NITI Progress, part of Rostec, has developed a unique automatic CNC welding setup. This device is designed to perform precision welding work in the confined spaces of nuclear reactors. One of Rosatom’s enterprises has already created the first working prototype of this facility, equipped with argon arc welding and automation.

This advanced welding machine is capable of automatically performing circular welds on thick structures often used in nuclear reactors and is not limited by the thickness of the materials. It uses non-consumable electrodes to provide reliable, strong and precise welds, even when working with a variety of metals.

This welding robot has many important advantages, such as the ability to weld heat-resistant steel for a long time, the ability to control welding parameters and temperature using CCTV and infrared pyrometer, and the ability to operate at high currents up to 500A. three hours. The technological process, including adjustment of the welding arc and detection of connection points of parts, is fully automatic.
