Think about it from a purely commercial point of view: if you are already in my store, why should I let you go to another store to buy something that I can also offer you?

Inside the Mind of Mark Zuckerberg: Why would you leave Facebook or Instagram to buy something on Amazon? Buy on Amazon, but do it directly from Facebook or Instagram!

In general terms, the above reflects the agreement that tech giants Amazon and Meta have reached, and you will be able to buy V Amazon without having to leave your social media profiles.

How many times has it happened to you that you looked coil and you wanted to check the price of a product or buy it directly, for which you had to log out of the Facebook or Instagram app and log into the Amazon app? Well, that’s exactly what the Meta doesn’t want to repeat. And on Amazon, of course, they are rubbing their hands.

It’s all thanks to a new feature that allows users to link their Facebook and Instagram accounts to Amazon so they can buy products by clicking on promotions that appear in their feeds.

“For the first time, customers will be able to buy Amazon ads on Facebook and Instagram and make payments on Amazon without leaving social media apps,” said Callie Jernigan of Amazon. “U.S. customers will see real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, estimated shipping costs and detailed product information in select Amazon product ads on Facebook and Instagram as part of the new experience.”

This new mechanism will allow users to link their Facebook and Instagram profiles with an Amazon account to purchase products on social media using the popular e-commerce platform’s payment and delivery methods.

Partner Meta, which also broke the news, said the agreement will allow the Mark Zuckerberg-led company to access “certain” information from Amazon to optimize its ad targeting. The company can customize sales messages and product pages based on whether the user is a Prime member or not. You’ll also be able to adjust additional information, such as real-time prices or shipping costs, as needed.

While we’ll still have to wait to truly see how this works, all indications are that it will be a quick and unique setup where customers will be able to link their account, be it Facebook or Instagram, with an Amazon account. Once this process is completed, they will be able to make payments for product advertisements appearing on these platforms without leaving them. A A win-win perfect, as they would say in business jargon.

As mentioned, it will initially only be available in the US for select products sold by Amazon or independent companies associated with the platform.
