Yandex began collecting statistics on the use of generative neural networks in Russia

The service will allow you to follow the trends of technological development and the speed of its penetration into people’s lives. Neurostat data will be updated once every three months.

According to Yandex search data, since the beginning of 2022, interest in neural networks has increased more than 15 times. Now the word “neural network” appears in queries as frequently as “fitness”, “psychologist” or ” beer”.

According to Neurostat, more and more active Internet users in the country are beginning to use neural networks to create texts and images, and two-thirds of those surveyed are aware of these types of tools.

Thus, it turned out that the knowledge about generative language models for August-November 2023 remained practically unchanged. By the end of the summer, 57% of participants in a survey conducted by Neurostat had heard of them, and by the fall, 58%. At the same time, the number of Internet users who tried to create texts using neural networks increased from 24% to 31%. In May, according to Neurostat, the figure was 23%.

Even more people know about neural networks for creating images. In August, 73% of respondents said they had heard of these types of tools, and in November, 75%. The number of users who use this type of neural networks has also increased: from 26% to 31%.

These studies are based on the results of a survey of more than a thousand active Internet users in Russia between the ages of 18 and 45 between August and November 2023.
