In Cyberpunk 2077 with the Medium preset, the GTX 1080 will have an average FPS that is 74% faster than the 980 (71fps vs 41fps). In very rare cases, performance drops to 35 fps (980) and 57 fps (1080).
Red Dead Redemption 2 came with TAA along with Ultra textures and other Medium parameters. This time the average frame rate of the 1080 was 69% higher than the previous model (58 fps vs. 98 fps).
Starfield game was running on Medium graphics settings. GTX 1080 was 66% faster than GTX 980.
The Witcher 3 was released with a high preset TAAU. The average performance difference between the graphics cards here was 77% (69 fps vs. 122 fps).
Tested with AC Mirage, Medium settings and TAA. On average, the GTX 1080’s FPS was 62% higher (53 fps vs. 86 fps).
Fortnite came with the High preset and TAA. In terms of average frame rates, the GTX 1080 beats the 980 by 76% (70 fps vs. 123 fps).
Overall across all projects the GTX 1080 was 71% faster than the GTX 980 (based on average FPS).
