Tesla is officially recalling more than 2 million electric vehicle crashes due to problems with Autopilot as part of the US Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Reason: a two-year investigation into an emergency involving the company’s autopilot. During the investigation, we realized that some car owners were abusing the reduced autopilot mode. At the same time, the system itself did not provide for a measure to prevent its misuse.
The company intends to release a software update that includes additional controls and alerts to increase driver attention to the steering wheel.
Tesla noted that car owners do not face trips to dealers. The update takes place remotely. [CNN]
