Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two has struck first by filing trademark proceedings in the UK against Remedy’s new logo, the stylized R. Apparently they think this is too close to Rockstar’s iconic branding.

Fueled by the success of Alan Wake 2, Remedy introduced the logo last year to change its image as a “single game studio”. They replaced the Max Payne-era bullet with a “multiple” R, symbolizing their various portfolios.

While both companies remain silent, the internet is full of speculation. Will Rockstar’s legal reputation prevail, or will Remedy be able to stand on its own? History will judge them.
