The plaintiffs, who include Brian Keane, Abdi Nazemian and Stuart O’Nan, claim the company used their work from a sample of 196,640 works to create English text. They accuse Nvidia of using unauthorized material and have announced a class-action lawsuit that may include other authors in that instance.
The amount of damage was not specified, but this is not the first time such accusations have been made against Nvidia. Previously, the company was accused of misusing materials from The New York Times. Such lawsuits have also become common in the AI industry, affecting not only Nvidia but also other major companies, including OpenAI and its financial partner Microsoft.
