This was a significant victory for workers who are demanding higher wages, flexible working hours and safer working conditions from 2022. The NLRB complaint details Amazon’s alleged illegal tactics, including questioning workers about their union activities, threatening to call the police on organizers, and demoting those who participated in the movement.

Amazon worker Marcio Rodriguez claims he and ten colleagues were threatened with termination for organizing. He said management repeatedly summoned him to the HR department for questioning and put on “a public display in front of his colleagues.”

This Kentucky example reflects a broader national trend. Amazon workers across the country have been trying to unionize for years, often facing accusations that Amazon uses illegal tactics to stop them. More than 240 such claims were submitted to the NLRB.

Amazon will appear before the NLRB on April 22 to defend its actions in Kentucky.
