This experimental demonstration energy complex should be the world’s first complete facility complex to enable the closure of the nuclear fuel cycle. The complex will consist of a power unit with a BREST-OD-300 fast neutron reactor and a nuclear fuel cycle closed at the station facility.
The fuel production/regeneration module is planned to be the first facility of the pilot demonstration energy complex (ODEC) to be commissioned. To produce nuclear fuel, the complex will use four technological lines, including a carbothermic synthesis line and a fuel pellet production line.
The production of such fuels requires maximum automation to avoid high dose burden on personnel. Currently, the commissioning of the equipment installed on the production lines is ongoing.
