Referring to “confirmed cases of espionage”, Kosonen emphasized that TikTok poses a danger to children, young people and public order. Kosonen warned of virtual spying enabled by millions of microphones and cameras, as the app has 1.5 million users in Finland alone.

Kosonen’s main concern was TikTok’s algorithm, which determines user content and raises questions about privacy and censorship. Kosonen echoed the concerns expressed by US officials and called on the EU to take decisive action against TikTok.
