In 2016, Vladimir Putin signed a bill by deputy Irina Yarovaya, according to which resources from the ARI registry are required to store user data for six months. These are passport data, residence and registration addresses, information about accounts of other services and IP address. Upon request, companies must transfer data to government agencies.
As of early May of this year, the registry has 400 entries (entries include not only inclusion on the list, but also exclusion from it). Several other Yandex services have already been added to the registry, as well as Avito, VKontakte, HeadHunter and others.
Late last year, the Ministry of Digital Development came up with an initiative to force sites to be included in the IRA registry. Therefore, RKN will be able to add a site to the list if it has the messaging function and the owner violated the requirement to register voluntarily twice.
And as of March 2024, there is an expanded list of data that ORI companies must provide upon request. It now includes “means of payment” and “electronic geolocation monitoring.” The government made this decision at the request of the Federal Security Service.
