Lithuanian customs detained a Tesla Cybertruck, which they suspect was about to enter Russia via Belarus.
Two cars were unable to cross the Shalcininkai checkpoint on the Lithuanian border with Belarus. Customs officers confiscated the cars. It is unknown what will be done with them next.
Electric cars were not allowed in due to sanctions that prohibit cars in Russia that cost more than €50 thousand. At the end of March, a similar ban, but only for Belarus, was introduced by Poland, Latvia and Lithuania.
Tesla Cybertruck is not officially sold in Europe. Probably, someone was transporting electric cars to Russia as a special order from the USA. It’s difficult to buy a Cybertruck even in the US right now because production is limited and there’s a two-month wait for delivery. [Electrek]
