Cars of the renewed Volga brand were presented in Nizhny Novgorod. At the exhibition “The digital industry of industrial Russia” models of three classes were shown. The media named Chinese prototypes of the new cars, and Prime Minister Mishustin demanded that the production of at least simple parts be localized in Russia.

The cars will be produced in three classes: the Volga C40 D-class sedan, the Volga K40 D-class crossover and the Volga K30 C-class crossover.
According to TASS, all models are equipped with a 188-horsepower gasoline engine. The cars also received a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The cars are equipped with an intelligent driver assistance system and a multimedia system with home services.
The entire line will be produced at the Nizhny Novgorod automobile group’s facilities. The project is being implemented by Passenger Car Production JSC. Car production is planned to begin in 2024.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who was shown the cars, asked to localize the production of at least those parts that are not technologically complex.
“Where is your steering wheel made, Chinaman? I wish the steering wheel was Russian. It is not as difficult as locating the box and all the other items,” Mishustin said, quoted by TASS.

As the profile of the telegram channel “Autopotok” points out, the Volga C40 model is the Chinese Changan Raeton Plus, the K30 model is the Oshan X5 Plus, and the K40 prototype is the Changan UNI-Z. At the same time, the author of the publication continues, the cars have an original front bumper group and a chrome grille with vertical teeth, which, as the author assumes, will be produced in the Russian Federation.
According to Avtopotok, GAZ will invest 60 billion rubles in the project. They plan to sell the cars through Russian Skoda dealers.
