An internal currency will appear in the Telegram messenger. The founder of the messenger Pavel Durov spoke about the launch of Telegram Stars on his Telegram channel.
Telegram Stars can be used to pay for services in mini-apps, using the simplest possible payment method: in-app purchases on Android and iOS, Durov noted.
Apple and Google’s commission for purchasing Stars is 30%, but Telegram subsidizes the purchased advertising, bringing the commission down to 0%.
“Therefore, launching applications on Telegram makes more economic sense than launching traditional mobile applications,” Durov emphasized.
Durov called the launch of Telegram Stars an “unprecedented” event in the history of social networks.
