Difficulty falling asleep due to excessive excitement and fatigue is seen not only in children but also in adults. Emotions can prevent you from shutting down by default. Additionally, if you are constantly overtired, it may become increasingly difficult to fall asleep. Fortunately, there are ways to fix this.

Overwork is a cruel paradox. You may feel physically tired, but your brain will actually be overstimulated. So it’s on high alert mode, making it impossible to rest before bed.

If you are regularly sleep deprived and overtired, you may experience anxious thoughts. A 2019 study found that people with insomnia were significantly more likely to ruminate at night about a recent embarrassment than healthy sleepers. Another study showed that insomniacs may even be hypersensitive to the sound of their own heartbeat.

Stop counting sheep. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to force yourself to sleep. Instead of these initiatives, focus on what you can control. For example, processing your own emotions using an anxiety journal.

Keep a Worry Diary. It’s pretty simple. Before going to bed, write down your worries on a piece of paper; Whether it is related to work, health or social life. You can also make a quick plan for how you will deal with certain concerns tomorrow.

If you can’t fall asleep after 15 minutes, get out of bed and find a quiet part of the house and write more in your anxiety journal. The worst thing you can do in this situation is to toss and turn.

Set a sleep timer. Set your alarm an hour before bed and devote those 60 minutes to rest.
