The application analyzes the video recording of the patient’s face and reports possible paralysis within seconds. Diagnostic accuracy is currently 82%.
This app will not replace a full medical exam, but will help emergency physicians quickly identify patients who need urgent care. It will be especially useful in cases where stroke symptoms are difficult to recognize.
In the future, scientists plan to develop the app to be able to diagnose other diseases that affect facial expressions. The application is also planned to be integrated into ambulance protocols.
