Roskomnadzor has sent a letter to Google LLC CEO Sundar Pichai demanding that he unblock more than 200 Russian channels on YouTube, the Roskomnadzor press service told RB.RU.

“These restrictive measures fundamentally violate the key principles of the free flow of information and unhindered access to it. Such actions regarding the hosting of videos are unacceptable and constitute an act of censorship,” the department said.

According to the department, since 2020, YouTube has blocked 207 channels of users from the Russian Federation, 83 of them were blocked in 2024. The restrictions included, in particular, the channels of designer and blogger Artemy Lebedev, RT publications and artist Oleg Gazmanov.

Roskomnadzor stressed that more than 61,300 banned materials in Russia remain unremoved on YouTube at the moment.
