The road is not close to me and the road to the south is just over 2500 kilometers. It runs through several areas where the attitude of the authorities towards the roads and infrastructure in general is strictly felt.
Geographically, we leave the Kirov region, famous for its terrible roads, the abundance of mosquitoes and the complete absence of the possibility of rest on the Dol road. Of course, there are roadside cafes, but the prices will “pleasantly” surprise you with exorbitant prices and the lack of little comfort. The road surface is of very poor quality and in some places the speed of circulation is reduced to 5-10 km per hour and maneuvering between pits on the asphalt surface. And this is a federal highway for a minute. When driving, it is best to stop at large gas stations or where heavy trucks stop. This will help protect you from various scammers and from divorcing the owners of these parking lots.

After the Kirov region, we go to Mari El, where immediately after the wake of the change of region a smooth path with high-quality coverage and brands begins. Almost the entire road is divided into several lanes with acceleration and braking lanes. Nature is already changing significantly, there are fewer forests and more fields. There are more and more roadside cafes and the level is rising significantly. In the capital Yoshkar-Ola, it is worth visiting the embankment with unusual views of European buildings. The city has many attractions, for example, the symbol of the city, Yoshkin Kot.
You should definitely visit the embankment with its intricate interweaving of various styles of architecture. True, the weather does not please with its warmth.
Usually the trip is accompanied by a visit to a cafe with national food.
The Chuvash Republic and Mordovia are passed at the same time. The road is very good, but you can meet the first self-substitutes. For example, on the side of the road, gas stations or cafes, you can find cars with non-Russian numbers standing in an emergency gang and braking passing cars. If you stop, they will tell you a scrupulous story that the car has broken down, or has run out of gas. There are numbers from Ukraine and numbers from unrecognized republics, but this is a little closer to the southern regions. They will ask you for some money and in exchange they can offer you a gold ring or a ring. Most likely, it will be ordinary jewelry for 150 rubles from the nearest store. You should not buy such “gold”, most likely, it will be worth nothing.
Divorce at gas stations is now less common, but you might find it. They can’t usually be found at brand-name gas stations far from the cameras. The meaning of divorce is begging for gas money. Usually the car is in an emergency squad and children can run around the car. If you watch those people, immediately after 1 or 2 fools, they get out of their seats and drive off without even refueling.
Then we pass through the regions of Penza, Saratov and Volgograd. In the Volgograd region, you can stay in Kamyshin. The city has beautiful views of the Kamyshinka River. Visit the local museums, including the Meresyev pilot.
After Volgograd, you can stop on the ferry at Novy Rogachik. The weather did not really please, but the prices of the USSR remained. 110₽ per car + 10₽ per passenger. Children under 7 years free.
While driving, you can stop for a snack at a roadside cafe. But here you can expect one more trap from scammers. When you leave your car and go inside, scammers can puncture your tire or even cut it. This is due to the fact that when you unload things from the car, the car will be distracted, and then it will be easier to steal valuables from the car. In this case, it is better not to leave the car unattended and put it in front of the windows of the cafe. Or eat next to the car.
Then the road to the busy M4 or through the deserted salt steppes. Both have their pluses and minuses. But, through Salsk, the road is freer, although already a bit shocking.
Approaching the end point, you can find a large number of mobile traffic police posts. And here lies the main danger. Every year I go south and thought such divorces stayed at 90. At some point I was pulled over by traffic police and pulled over for crossing the solid dividing line. They asked me to get in the car to make a protocol. Both employees sat in the car, one in the front seat and the other in the back. They did not respond to my statements that I did not cross the line, and a video recorder with a high-quality image was installed in the car, but this did not suit them either. And the traffic cops themselves refused to show the video of the rape. A check of the basis of the violations did not reveal any violations on my part. Crossing the continuous line implies a fine of 5,000 rubles or deprivation of rights in case of recidivism. Understand, even if I am fined, this is 5000-50% if it is paid on time through utilities.
But even in such a situation, the employees did not draw up a protocol, but they also did not let him go. At some point they asked me for insurance. I didn’t take it at first. Returning from the car, I took my smartphone with me, and strangely enough, the problem solved itself. At the same time, the staff asked why he needs a smartphone.
This is such a story, and it may be hard to believe, but such cases do happen.
