iPhone 16 owners can now restore their wireless network firmware with another iPhone running iOS 18, 9to5Mac reports.
iOS 18 for iPhone 16 includes the same RecoveryOS that allows you to root your Apple Watch and Apple TV with your iPhone.
Once the iPhone 16 enters recovery mode, users can simply place it next to another iPhone or iPad to initiate the firmware restore process.
Another device reboots iOS on iPhone 16 via air, and then the firmware installs itself.
According to the iOS 18 code, any device running iOS 18 can be used to restore iPhone 16. But it seems that the transferred firmware can only be iPhone 16 now.
Either way, this is good news because now you don’t have to connect your iPhone to a Mac or PC to restore the system. [9to5Mac]
