The authorities have started allowing trucks to drive on the M-11 Neva highway between Moscow and St. Petersburg unmanned. Previously, the driver had to be at the wheel when entering the city, but now he can move into the passenger seat, according to the Ministry of Transport’s telegram channel.

The launch of Russia’s first unmanned logistics corridor was made possible by the commissioning of the Tver bypass in July 2024, the ministry noted.
On September 23, four unmanned trucks set off on the route: two from the KamAZ car manufacturer and two from Sberavtotech. The total number of drones on the track is now 22. By the end of 2024, the fleet will grow to 43 vehicles, and in 2025 – to 93.

The Government has authorized the launch of unmanned cargo transport on the M-11 in October 2022.

In June 2023, KamAZ and Sberavtotech began the first tests of drones on roads. StarLine, X5 Group and Magnit are also involved in the project.

In August 2024, the government allowed the launch of unmanned cargo transport along the M-12 Vostok (connecting Moscow and Kazan) and the Central Ring Road (Moscow region).
