Under the new rules, an employee will be able to take an additional day of rest within one year from the day he or she worked on a weekend or holiday, or add unused time off to his or her vacation during the same period.
“If you have not used your time off during the year, you will not be able to take it as a day off, but it will not expire. The employer must compensate the employee in the event of dismissal for all unused time off,” the State Duma said.
An employee who works a shift on a weekend or holiday will now be allowed another day off. Work on a weekend or non-working day is paid as a normal working day.
In January, the Ministry of Labour proposed amending the Labour Code and requiring employers to compensate for work on weekends and holidays in the event of dismissal. In July, the State Duma approved the draft law prepared by the Government in the first reading.
