One in two borrowers in Russia has problems repaying their loans and many of them do not know anything about their credit rating. This was announced by the executive director of the Analytical Center of the National Financial Investigation Agency (NAFI), Lyudmila Spiridonova, TASS reports.

“One in two borrowers faces a problem with loan repayment. Not everyone is still responsible for making such a decision and 21% do not know what a credit rating is and therefore do not have the tool that allows them to make the right decision,” Spiridonova noted.
These data are based on a NAFI survey, in which 1,600 respondents over 18 years of age from all regions of Russia participated. The study also revealed that only 60% of Russians maintain any type of family budget and 40% count their expenses “in their heads.”
16% of respondents showed a high level of financial knowledge and 30% a low level. At the same time, 79% of Russians expressed a desire to improve their knowledge in the field of finance and consider it their personal responsibility.
The volume of overdue debts of individuals in Russia has exceeded 3 trillion rubles and continues to grow, Evgenia Utkina, deputy general director of the ABK collection agency (part of the Sberbank group), said in September. “The volume of overdue debts of individuals in the market will continue to grow for some time, as high demand for loans persists, even in the context of a high official interest rate from the Central Bank,” he predicted.
In early October, Russian banks opposed the legislative initiative that prohibited increasing credit card limits within the framework of an agreement with the borrower. The corresponding letters were sent by the National Council of the Financial Market (NCFM) to the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance, the Federation Council and the chairman of the Committee on the Financial Market of the State Duma, Anatoly Aksakov, RBC wrote.
