Chrome’s “Listen to this page” tool is finally running in the background. The new feature was included in the browser in version 130 of the application.
The text-to-speech tool, introduced in Chrome for Android in June this year, has made a significant contribution to accessibility. The solution uses: Speech synthesizer to convert on-screen text into soundI read the entire content.
However, when the user closed the application (or placed the application in the background), playback was stopped.
This limitation restricts the user’s activity while browsing, preventing them from checking another application while listening to the content of the page they are visiting. Fortunately, Chrome 130 solves this problem.
In this version, You can continue listening to page content even if you browse other applications.
Playback is controlled from the Notification Tray
As soon as Chrome is placed in the background, the content player is placed in the Notification Tray. Here the user can advance to any point in the content, pause 10-second sections, or fast-forward/rewind.
You Controls over playback remain the same: You can adjust the reading speed from 0.5x to 4x, choose from 10 different voices, and enable marking and auto-scrolling. All of these can be accessed from Chrome by tapping the player at the bottom of the screen.
THE Chrome 130 is being distributed to everyone users. If the new feature has not yet arrived on your device, it is useful to check whether there are pending updates for the browser in the Play Store.
