As part of the current presidential campaign, Marcus has donated $1.8 million to support Donald Trump, a smaller amount than in 2016, when the businessman and his family supported Trump with $7 million, Bloomberg wrote.
Marcus criticized US President Joe Biden, calling him “the most divisive president we have ever seen.”
The future businessman was born in 1929 into a family of Russian immigrants of Jewish origin. Marcus received a pharmacy education, but did not work in the healthcare field, instead going into sales, working at O’Dells, Vornado, and Handy Dan. The future sponsor opened his first stores after leaving Handy Dan. Forbes estimated Marcus’s net worth at $11 billion. Colleagues in his obituary called Marcus “a master trader and customer service genius.”
The United States presidential elections will take place on November 5.
