“Our plan is to add approximately 700 thousand additional developers to the industry by 2030, focusing separately on those disciplines that will give us the opportunity to reproduce the most popular modern solutions: artificial intelligence, robotics, where we now have a huge shortage. specialists and solutions,” highlighted the minister.
In his words, over the past four years the number of employees of IT companies has increased by 50% and exceeded 850 thousand people, and the average salary in the industry is 185 thousand rubles, but companies still “do not have “enough staff.” ”
Shadayev noted that to combat personnel shortages, this year the Ministry of Digital Development doubled the number of budgetary places in IT specialties in universities. More than 600 thousand students are currently studying digital specialties in 500 universities, he emphasized. The Ministry of Digital Development expects that by 2030, more than 900 thousand students will receive additional qualifications in IT.
Additionally, the department proposes to compel accredited IT companies to provide a mandatory amount of university teaching and internships for students. Kommersant previously reported on the initiative; According to the newspaper’s sources, support for universities will be mandatory for companies with revenues of one billion rubles. Otherwise, the company could lose state accreditation and associated benefits.
In early December, InfoWatch director Elena Kasperskaya also advocated the development of cooperation between universities and IT companies. In his opinion, in Russia there is a problem of the departure of IT specialists with high-quality education abroad. According to Kasperskaya, this can be solved by developing the practice of selective recruitment of students by IT companies.
