“Lidl (at the Vaalimaa checkpoint – Torfyanovka – editor’s note) will close its doors on December 29, 2024,” says a message on the Lidl network website.

Russians often visited the aforementioned supermarket, combining the purchase of “European trinkets at reasonable prices” with a visit to the country where the visa was issued, clarifies 47 News.

Earlier, on December 21, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said that the border with Russia remains closed because, according to the Finnish side, if it opens, Russia will allegedly send migrants to Finland without proper documents.

The border between Finland and Russia has been closed by decision of the Finnish authorities since November 2023 amid an uncontrolled flow of refugees from third countries.
