New York State will contribute $20 million to the project, in addition to the $550 million already invested. The U.S. Department of Commerce will also provide $75 million, in addition to the $1.5 billion provided through the CHIPS Act and the Science Act.

GlobalFoundries CEO Thomas Caulfield emphasized that the facility was a “response” to customer demands for a “more diverse and secure supply chain”.
