But this is definitely a bad idea. According to the expert, chewing ice can provide temporary relief, but can sometimes lead to immediate medical attention.

When chewing hard substances such as ice, cracks and chips can form on the teeth. This can loosen existing fillings and even break teeth.

Among other factors dangerous to oral health, the doctor chose dehydration and sudden changes in temperature. If you constantly eat very cold foods in the heat, this can cause the enamel to crack.

It’s also not uncommon for teeth to become more sensitive during the summer months. To avoid this, it is better to drink drinks not too cold, but at room temperature.

Because of the intense heat, you are more likely to suffer from dehydration. This will slow down the production of saliva in the mouth. The doctor emphasizes that a person needs saliva to wash bacteria and food particles from the teeth. If there is not enough saliva, bruises may develop. That’s why the expert recommended drinking at least two liters of water a day.

Another risk factor is exercising outdoors in the heat. They can contribute to the appearance of microtraumas: cracks and chips on the teeth. For this reason, the doctor recommends that you wear a mouth guard while exercising.
