The system works on the basis of smart contracts (automatic agreements) that are activated under certain conditions. When the vehicle enters the parking lot, the cameras record the license plate number and the service fee begins to be calculated according to current tariffs. On departure, the amount is automatically charged to the customer in digital rubles.
According to Alexey Okhorzin, head of the retail business product department and senior vice president of VTB, this technology eliminates the need for drivers to search for parking meters, install special applications or save on paper tickets. The system remembers the parking information and is automatically activated on subsequent visits.
VTB is actively testing various scenarios for the use of digital rubles. As banknotes note, payments via smart contracts are one of the most popular areas where the new form of national currency is used.
