A noticeable increase in the activity of the VK Mix section, which is responsible for personal recommendations, has been observed. Within a year, the time spent listening to tracks in this section more than doubled, and users began to add their favorite compositions to their playlists more often. Young people are particularly active in using the new recommendations: the audience of 14 to 18-year-olds increased by 50% during the year.
There are now new blocks on the homepage that include important genres such as pop, hip-hop, rock and electronic. The “Genres” section analyzes the user’s tastes and selects suitable music, and the updated design makes the interface more similar to the music section of VKontakte. “Collected by algorithms” and “Collected by editors” categories have been added and the icon has been moved to the top of the screen, making searching easier.
There’s also a new “Mix My Music” tool that combines the user’s previously recorded tracks with similar suggestions. Multiple filter settings allow you to choose several parameters at once, such as mood, recency and presence of vocals.
Particular attention was paid to artist cards. Now you can not only listen to music, but also learn about the artist’s upcoming concerts. Thanks to integration with the VK Tickets service, users can instantly purchase tickets for shows, performances, exhibitions or sports events.
The developers also added an “About the Artist” section where artists can post a short bio and updated information about themselves.
