The first typewriters had a layout in which letters were arranged in alphabetical order. But when people learned to type fast, they accidentally pressed two keys at the same time. I had to type slower to avoid this.

The solution to this problem was proposed by the engineer K. Scholes. In the 19th century, he discovered the most common typos people made. After that, the specialist “scattered” the letters on the keyboard so that they intersect with words as little as possible. This arrangement was very convenient for typists.

After the advent of computers, the keyboard layout remained the same. That is, they created keyboards only on the basis of typewriters.

At the same time, in fact, there are other orders in addition to the generally accepted one today. Also, some people believe that these layouts are more convenient than the standard one. But in any case, it’s all very subjective.
