Intel has introduced the next generation of Thunderbolt, bringing ultra-fast transfer speeds and improved external display frequency to upcoming Macs.

Thunderbolt 5 delivers up to 80Gbps of bandwidth for up to 2x faster data transfers. It will also have a mode with speeds up to 120Gbps for external monitors – with it, the Mac can support up to two 8K 60Hz displays.

No Mac currently supports these monitors. Top-end MacBook Pros can handle 6K 60Hz screens.

Thunderbolt 5 is expected to release in 2023. Then, probably, new “poppies” will come out with suspicion.
