The authors of the RandomGaminginHD channel tested the performance of the RTX 3050 graphics card connected to the computer via USB 3.0 in Full HD in seven modern games. Typically, this graphics accelerator works with PCIe 4.0 x8. The computer build also ran on an Intel Core i5-12400F processor.
HORSE cyberpunk 2077 At medium graphics settings the performance drop is not that strong. The average frame rate was 56 fps with PCIe 3.0 x1 (in standard mode – 79 fps), in very rare events – 23 fps.
Hand Ring went with a high preset. And here the average framerate has already dropped quite a bit: up to 35fps compared to 60fps in normal mode. Performance in extremely rare events was 14fps (44fps in standard mode).
Fortnite 100% 3D Resolution worked with Epic View Distance at medium preset. On average, with PCIe 3.0 x1 (in normal mode – 178 fps) we managed to get 96 fps, in very rare events – 20 fps (with PCIe 4.0 x8 – 60 fps).
Forza Horizon 5 went with a high preset. The average framerate here was 45fps compared to 124fps in standard mode. In very rare cases, the numbers were 16 and 94 fps respectively.
HORSE GTA IV We managed to get an average of 39fps on the highest graphics settings and 17fps on very rare events (in normal mode these were 99 and 30fps respectively).
Red Dead Redemption 2 It started with the Console Quality Settings. Average performance here was 50fps on extremely rare events – 29fps (with PCIe 4.0 x8 – 88fps and 56fps).
witch 3 it came with high graphics settings, Low Post Render Preset, No Hair Render. On average, the frame rate here is 73 fps (in standard mode – 143 fps), in very rare events – 26 fps (in normal mode – 88 fps).
Average performance across all seven games was 50% lower when connecting the RTX 3050 graphics card via USB 3.0 compared to a standard connection (110 fps versus 56 fps).
