Xiaomi has released an update to its EOS list on Monday, 26th, which stands for “End of Support”, which means the end of the software update for some of the models on the list. New additions cover smartphones Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, Redmi K30 5G and Poco X2.

In the case of the Poco X2, users were surprised as they expected an update to MIUI 13, Xiaomi’s Android 12-based interface announced in December 2021. The stable version of the operating system was even tested on the device of the sub-brand in April. from 2022 but it was never officially released due to several bugs and other issues.

What will happen to the smartphones in Xiaomi’s EOS?

As Xiaomi launches various mobile phone models around the world, the EOS list is periodically updated to indicate those that will no longer receive official support from the manufacturer. Naturally, when it goes out of style, this model no longer receives new security patcheswhich means exposure to some risks.

While their exclusion from EOS does not imply an immediate security risk, these models eventually become more vulnerable than their “siblings” that receive periodic updates. Therefore, The best thing to do in these situations is to get a new device whenever possible.
