AFK Sistema is considering buying the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga, Kommersant writes.

The company may involve the Kazakh automaker Allur in the project. AllurGroup includes the production sites of Agromashholding and SaryarkaAvtoProm, as well as the dealer and distribution network of AllurAuto.

Volkswagen Group Rus said that they are considering various options for the active development of the company in Russia.

One of the possible options is the sale of the assets of Volkswagen Group Rus to the other party. However, no decisions have been made in this regard.

The Volkswagen plant in Kaluga was launched in 2007. It produced the Volkswagen Tiguan and Polo, as well as the Skoda Rapid. In 2021, 118 thousand cars were produced.
