A study by the University of Helsinki states that there is a link between age 30 and a person’s socioeconomic status. It found that those with a low level of education at age 30 had a 58 percent risk of developing mental illness by age 52. The association was particularly strong in patients with schizophrenia and also in those who abused psychoactive substances.

The results of the study also showed that those who didn’t have a job at age 30 or had never worked at that age doubled their risk of developing a mental disorder in the future.

During the research, experts analyzed information from the national registry on more than 1.2 million people born between 1966 and 1986.

According to the results of the study, the prevalence of mental illness was also confirmed regardless of socioeconomic status, although mental disorders were more frequently diagnosed in people with lower socioeconomic status.
