Hateful comparisons between dogs And cats The question of which pets are better now has extended to their owners, according to a 2017 study by three psychologists from the University of Florida, Carroll University, and Marquette University, which lists significant differences in the temperaments of both groups.

The study involved 418 undergraduate students who were self-proclaimed cat or dog lovers and were then given a detailed questionnaire that focused on their personality traits.

As a side note, 352 people declared themselves to be dog lovers, and only 66 admitted to preferring cats.

Cat lovers scored higher on a test of logical reasoning and general intelligence, and also showed better results in abstract thinking, self-sufficiency and open-mindedness.

On the other hand, people with dogs were more often warm, outgoing individuals who knew the rules well.

“Taken together, these data describe the average cat person as shy, withdrawn, impersonal, serious, and nonconformist, but also creative, sentimental, independent, and self-sufficient. On the contrary, these results describe people with dogs as down to earth, pragmatic, and obedient, as well as warm, outgoing, outgoing, expressive, and group-oriented,” the study authors write.

“The results show that people with higher conscientiousness and liveliness scores tend to prefer dogs, while people with higher reasoning and emotional sensitivity scores prefer cats,” they add.

In addition, the study suggests that “the personality profiles of creative people and people with cats are remarkably similar, suggesting that people who consider themselves creative may prefer cats as pets,” the study authors added.
