Apple’s voice assistant was officially introduced in 2011. The technology was able to understand a range of commands. Siri can show you the weather, set a timer, search the web, call someone, play a song, or create a reminder. Apple said this is just the beginning. However, it turned out that against the background of current competitors, Siri did not reveal its potential.

Years passed and Siri almost stood in one place, receiving only a few new “hacks”, support for other languages, and a new interface. Even against the backdrop of Google Assistant, Microsoft with Cortana, Amazon Alexa, and even Alice written by Yandex, Siri seems outdated.

And the reason for this stagnation is simple – according to numerous reports, the team behind Siri is unable to improve the assistant due to the way it was created and maintained. Over the years, the company’s engineers have added minor updates to the original Siri code, rather than actually working on a new version. Siri has become such a mess, and many sources claim that no one at Apple wants to change that (and whether they should, given that competitors now have a lot more to offer).
