In Russia, it is planned to create another Association of Video Game Developers. Among the objectives is the development of the export potential of Russian projects. One of the initiators of the creation was VK. The sources did not reveal other details to Vedomosti.
Work on the creation of the association has been underway at least since the end of autumn 2022. As the head of the organization, the candidacy of VK Play product director Alexander Mikheev is being considered.
The head of the Moscow division of the Lesta Games group of companies, Gaukhar Aldiyarova, said that the company rejected the offer to become a member of the association. According to her, the association must be one and be created not by legal entities, but by individuals – experts in the industry, otherwise a conflict of interest may occur.
In December 2022, an organization for the development of the video game industry was established in Russia. Vasily Ovchinnikov, the developer of the PvP.Tools platform, was appointed head. The organization’s goal is to preserve the video game industry in Russia “with its restoration and development.”
