HE What’s upOne of the world’s most popular communication apps, launched in November 2020. messages disappear after a certain time. Now, Meta seems to be working on an update for this feature, offering even more options for users.
Currently, it is possible to set your conversations to disappear after: 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days. However, according to the information on the WABetaInfo website, the app aims to offer: 15 new weather options (1 hour, 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, 5 days, 6 days, 14 days, 21 days, 30 days, 60 days, 180 days and 1 year).
With this innovation, WhatsApp hopes to make this experience even more secure and personalized. While there are no plans yet to allow a custom timer for ephemeral messages, the new options will work in most cases.
Self-deleting messages
For example, an hour’s time would be beneficial for extremely sensitive or private content that the sender does not want to stay on the recipient’s device for long.
At this time, it is unclear when the new update will become generally available. However, it is likely that the app will appear on the beta channel before it goes to the stable version.
Since the launch of ephemeral messages, WhatsApp has invested in additional features to improve the security and privacy of its users, including support for view-only media.
