Earth experienced its hottest temperatures since 950 AD two years ago.
The study, published in the journal Climate and Atmospheric Science, analyzed the tree rings of nearly 600 old conifers growing at high altitudes in the United States.
The team measured the wavelengths of blue light reflected from the board. Meanwhile, denser rings reflect less blue light at higher temperatures.
According to scientists, most of the hottest summers have been observed since 2000. The second warmest period, as evidenced by tree rings, occurred between 1028 and 1096 during the Medieval Climate Anomaly.
Another notable warm period lasted from 1319 to 1307, although temperatures during these periods were significantly lower than in recent decades.
Recall that the “heat wave” of 2021 lasted several weeks, from late June to mid-July.
