Vodovozov noted that vodka does not help infectious diseases, including SARS, and can even worsen the patient’s condition. The doctor explained that ethanol, the main active ingredient of vodka, suppresses the immune system, so in case of illness, this drink will work on the side of the infection, not the person.

Interestingly, this information has also been confirmed by other experts. So, earlier, general practitioner and TV presenter Elena Malysheva, together with pediatrician and immunologist Andrei Prodeus, urged the Russians not to rub children with vodka.
