The experiment involved 108 people of different ages, between the ages of 18 and 80. They split into two groups.

The first group listened to calm music or thought deliberately while watching their heartbeat. The latter did special breathing exercises, adjusting his breathing according to the indicators on the laptop screen, and also monitored his heart rate.

The exercises were performed for 20 minutes twice a day for four weeks.

In the end, the researchers noted that short-term breathing exercises had a significant impact on the participants’ health scores. Heart rate variability improved and blood levels of amyloid beta peptides decreased.

It is worth clarifying that amyloid beta peptides are biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease and their reduction may indicate a reduced risk of developing this disease.
