In the three months since the beginning of the year, Russian banks have issued approximately 1 million payment stickers. The proceeds of the sale amounted to 400 million rubles. Vedomosti writes about this with reference to the results of a survey conducted by the Smart Ranking agency.
By the end of the year, the number of issued stickers may grow to 4-6 million. According to the study, one in ten Russians plans to buy a paid sticker.
According to NSPK, as of early March 2023, 16 Russian banks are already issuing or testing payment tags. Tinkoff was the first to join the project. Sberbank and Alfa-Bank announced the release of stickers in February.
- In February, MTS and MTS-Bank launched the Pay Tag payment tag and their own MTS Pay application, to which you can link Mir cards of any bank and then choose which one to pay with.
- Also in February, it became known about the release of payment stickers for companies in Russia from Loko-Bank and stickers for individuals from MKB.
- On March 16, Home Credit Bank also joined the issuance of sticky cards for contactless payment.
- Dom.RF, Rosbank and Expobank plan to launch their payment tags at the end of August 2023.
- Stickers are also being tested at VTB, Post Bank, Absolut.
- On May 23, the Russian electronic payment service YuMoney launched a compact payment tag for contactless payments.
