Nokia mobile phone manufacturer HMD Global will launch a Barbie-themed mobile phone in July this year. Without giving details about the project, it is stated that the device is a result of the company’s partnership with Mattel.
Information about the device is still scant, but it will most likely be very rosy. Since it’s a flip-style feature phone, don’t expect anything futuristic like a folding screen or premium features.
Specifications for Barbie’s mobile phone have not yet been announced, but HMD’s head of global product insights, offerings and marketing, Adam Ferguson, stated that it will be an entirely new mobile phone.
The project, carried out in partnership with Mattel, is one of HMD’s first steps towards producing mobile phones outside the Nokia brand. The company’s new strategy was announced in September last year.
In addition to launching devices under its own brand, HMD also promised products resulting from partnerships; Mattel is one of them.
HMD will have its own mobile phones
However, HMD Global is not yet ready to give detailed information about its own launches. However, the company claims that its first mobile phone will be released in the northern hemisphere during the summer months.
It is worth noting that Nokia will not cease to exist. The company will continue to maintain its classic device family. According to the company, the change in tactics is not to replace Nokia, but to work with more than one brand at the same time.
