Video recording on Android could catch up with the iPhone in the coming weeks, thanks to one key app. Apparently, Blackmagic Design, the company that created the DaVinci video editor and also sells professional video cameras, plans to announce the availability of Blackmagic camera on devices running the Google operating system.

This was confirmed by YouTuber MrAlexTech in a video showing how it works on multiple devices, including the Google Pixel 8 Pro. He assures that the application. will be available for free.

For now, Blackmagic Camera is only available on iOS. In particular, this allows Provide the iPhone with settings and controls similar to those we get with a professional video recording camera. This is especially useful considering that the iPhone’s camera app doesn’t have any features for controlling settings like ISO, frame rate, shutter angle, or white balance; controls available in Blackmagic Camera.

On Android, many camera apps, especially on smartphones from popular brands like Google or Samsung, also don’t have these controls when recording video. So the arrival of the Blackmagic Camera app is very good news, especially considering that companies like Samsung allow 8K recording on some of their phones.

What can we do with Blackmagic Camera?

Again, Blackmagic Camera allows you to enable some video recording controls that we don’t see in other camera brands’ apps. Among them is the opportunity Adjust shutter level, ISO, white balance, aspect ratio, aspect ratio, etc.

The app, developed by Blackmagic Design, also allows you to record 10-bit ProRes files at 4K resolution.and has additional export functions so that anyone can edit content in DaVinci.

It is currently unknown when Blackmagic Camera will appear on Google Play –although it will most likely be released this yearor-. It’s also likely that it won’t be available on all devices, but only on those that meet certain requirements. However, they are expected to reach the most powerful models from brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung or Google.
