Apple is expected to release iPhone 15 later this year. Reports from 9to5Mac claim that the company is bringing Dynamic Island from the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to the iPhone 15, along with a larger display. This report came after the leak iphone 15 pro earlier this month.

The base iPhone retained the standard 6.1-inch screen size it had for several years. Although the size of the iPhone Pro increased from 5.8 inches to 6.1 inches when the iPhone 12 Pro was released, Apple has kept the regular iPhone the same size for years.

This report claims that Apple will shake things up this year and increase the display to 6.2 inches. There is no such report for the iPhone 15 Pro at the moment. Along with the larger screen, Apple is also said to be introducing Dynamic Island for the iPhone 15. This would mean that all current iPhones will keep the same silhouette and ditch the notched design (with the possible exception of the iPhone SE). It also means that Dynamic Island will become more attractive to developers as more and more users can take advantage of the interface.

It’s not clear if Apple will add ProMotion (the company’s brand for 120Hz refresh rate displays) to the iPhone 15, though it would make sense. Apple has kept the Pro feature exclusive to two generations of iPhones, but rivals Google, Samsung, Xiaomi and Oppo have been putting sleek screens on their low-end phones for years.

It was normal for Apple to snub cheaper iPhones when it started releasing soft displays, but if you stick around longer, reviewers may be less forgiving than they were in the past.

Apple’s move to expand Dynamic Island comes as the feature is gaining popularity among software and hardware makers. Realme is working on an Android phone with its own iteration of Dynamic Island, while Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi 13 Lite is expected to feature a tablet-like camera cutout.

While we mentioned earlier that Dynamic Island is slowly gaining popularity, it may have had more to do with time than anything else. This week, Uber took the Dynamic Island idea and implemented it into their app.
